Life Lists

Way back before kids, I used to sit and dream. Dream about things I wanted to accomplish in my lifetime. I always wanted to marry a divorced man with grown kids. Didn’t do that. Instead, I got this amazing man who had never been married, fathered my two beautiful children and has stuck with me for nearly 23 years. Dreams aren’t always what you hope they’ll be…sometimes real life is better.

But there’s still a place for dreams.

My friend and fellow mommy blogger, Dwan Perrin, introduced me a couple of days ago to Karen Walrond’s blog about making a life list. She took the idea from Maggie Mason. Now I’m taking it from them, but putting my own twist on it.

Since clearly my list has taken far too many twists and turns over the years, I’m going to sit down with my kids – who have their whole lives in front of them – and work with them on their lists. Then, I’m going to help them do those things. Here’s hoping I can convince at least one of my kids to actually sit down with me for this little exercise! Gotta love tweens.

How about you join me? Make your own list or sit down and help someone else create a list. Put it up and send me the link. We can link to everyone’s post here. Just keep in mind – your list doesn’t have to be finished. And it doesn’t have to be 100 things. Just make it fun and happy. Whimsical even. “Lose 20 pounds: is definitely not allowed. We’re not going for guilt here.

Here are some to get you started:

Now…where’s your list?
